Forced Perspective Research
The use of forced perspective messages as a wayfinding aid in the theme park environment has enormous potential because it conveys information to specific park guests approaching from a single direction. I conducted an experiment to test this novel technique by creating two virtual theme parks using Lumion software, loosely modeled on Disney’s Hollywood Studios and Magic Kingdom. I then had test subjects navigate the environments and recorded the amount of time it took them to find various attractions within the park. My results supported the benefits of forced perspective messages, and my research paper was accepted for presentation at the 2017 Environmental Design Research Association (EDRA) conference.
